Our Story
The director of SJB Legal Consultants Ltd, Stephen James Bunker, had an ambition during his time of studies to become a successful business owner and entrepreneur, working within the criminal defence law sector, which was his main interest.
The journey started in 2003, with a clerking role at a London-based law firm. Here, Mr Bunker would assist barristers in the Crown Court before moving onto the role of a case preparation worker, giving him the range of case knowledge and experience that he has today.
In 2006, at the very young age of 21, Mr Bunker was awarded the title of an Accredited Legal Representative by Cardiff University – a course ran by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. This qualification allowed him to express himself at the police station and advise in the most serious of cases from the very outset. Mr Bunker then went on to qualify as an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (ACILEx).
By 2013, having gained a senior level of experience in the industry, Mr Bunker adopted a new managerial role of head of police station department at a leading national law firm of Criminal Solicitors. Then, in 2016, he founded the company SJB Legal Consultants Ltd with a view of working in a consultancy role, which enabled him to have an independent way of working along with his father, Leslie Charles Bunker.
Today, we remain a small, family-run business which handles cases with care and the client’s best interests in mind. This is demonstrated in the consistently excellent reviews that we receive. We adopt a very diverse and down to earth approach in a jargon-free manner, to put the client at ease from the very outset. We have an appreciation for and understanding of the very stressful and potentially life-changing experience that a client is going through. We personally have over a decade of experience when it comes to advising suspects in interviews with the police in the most serious of circumstances. Since the beginning, we have also been recognised and instructed by various top tier law firms across England to represent their clients in interviews with a view that they are in safe hands with our expertise.
The end goal is to see where this story will end.

Past Client Testimonials
Client Testimonial
"We contact Stephen at very short notice, and did not expect he would be able to assist. Not only did he attend the Police Station on less than 24 hours notice, but he took the time and trouble to explain the process. He was extremely reassuring. You won’t regret having him by your side, he is friendly, kind and professional! Thank you so much for all your support Stephen, we wish you every success."

I would highly recommend SJB Legal to anyone who needs representation as they are dedicated to what they do and the support they provide.
Steve showed outstanding professionalism with a non-judgemental approach. During my interview process, he was honest, reassuring and provided clarity throughout. "
